Should I use CBD oil or CBD treats for my dog?
Both CBD treats and CBD oils contain cannabidiol, but one might be better for your pet’s issues. We often recommend using oil to treat chronic conditions like general anxiety, arthritis, or similar conditions.
CBD Oil For Dogs
CBD oil is administered with a dropper that can be used to give a precise dose to pets and is usually applied to their food twice daily. We do not recommend applying the dropper directly to your dog’s mouth as droppers are typically made from glass and could create a hazard for your dog.
Giving CBD oil with food is a superior method for dosing because it increases the amount of CBD that gets absorbed, ensuring the active ingredients can take effect.
Compared to soft chews, CBD oil has a higher concentration of cannabidiol and contains other minor cannabinoids such as cannabinol (CBN) and cannabichromene (CBC), as well as terpenes and flavonoids—all compounds from the cannabis plant that have healing properties and can work together to increase the health benefits.
CBD Treats for Dogs
Our CBD treats are made with the same oil as our tincture and contain the same minor cannabinoids but in a lower concentration by weight.
The soft chews can be offered as treats, making it easy for pet owners to give them during a car ride, at the veterinarian’s office, or other places where dogs could use a calming boost. They may also have added natural flavoring to increase palatability for dogs.
Also, each chew contains a consistent amount of CBD, meaning the dosing is not as easily customizable as it is with oil products, but having it in a treat can be very convenient for travel.
